Terry Whatley has rescued animals since she was a small child. She started rescuing birds in 1997 as a result of being outraged and dismayed at the lack of care for the ducks and geese at Village Pond Park.
Terry has been married 26 years, and she is a self employed computer programmer. She started the Bird Sanctuary over 20 years ago because she saw all the wounded wild birds in Orange County that needed saving and rescuing. She has worked tirelessly, using all her own money, to rescue, care for, feed, and provide medical care to thousands of south Orange County's hurt and wounded birds. These animals come to her with broken wings, legs, terrible infections, and many have been shot, run over, or mauled and are in critical condition. These birds and animals would have no other place to go! Terry brings them in and nurses them back to health. Her hard work and devotion over the years has saved so many beautiful little creatures. Please donate what you can to help the wild birds of Orange County, or Sponsor a Bird! They will thank you!
Village Pond Rescue & Rehabilitation handles non-protected species of wild birds (pigeons, English Sparrows, European Starlings) and domestic/exotic species of birds that find themselves in need of assistance.
